Running a plumbing business in a mid-sized UK city. Started this AI visibility journey 8 weeks ago with zero AI presence. Here's the update: **What I did:** - AI Verified Silver tier (domain verified) - Complete Google Business Profile with 47 photos, full service list, Q&A section - Added LocalBusiness + Plumber schema to homepage - Created 5 service pages each with HowTo schema (e.g., "How to fix a dripping tap") - Added FAQPage schema to a "Common plumbing questions" page **Result:** My business now appears in Google AI Overviews for "[city] emergency plumber" and "[city] boiler repair". **The HowTo schema was unexpected.** I added it thinking it would help with featured snippets, but it seems to have significantly improved AI Overview appearances for service-related queries. **Revenue impact:** Hard to attribute directly, but we've had 3 customers specifically mention they found us through "the AI search thing" in the past 2 weeks.

HowTo schema for service businesses is underused. It's designed for instructional content but it also signals to AI systems that your content is authoritative on the topic.

The Google Business Profile completeness is a significant factor for local AI Overviews. 47 photos is impressive β€” most businesses have 3-5.

The revenue attribution point is important. 'Found through AI search' is becoming a real customer acquisition channel. Worth adding to your intake form as a source option.
