Entity resolution is the process of deciding whether two mentions refer to the same real-world organization. “Acme Roofing” in Frisco and “Acme Roofing Inc.” in a citation may be one business — or two. Systems that answer commercial questions must get that decision right or they omit, merge, or invent.
