Google’s AI Overviews sit above or inside results and write a short answer. Local firms want to be in that box. Most of the advice about how to “get in” is leftover SEO copy with the logo swapped.
What the box needs
Sources that do not fight. A business name that is the same on the site and on the map. A page that states the facts in text, not only in a hero image. Structured data that matches the visible page — not a second invented company in JSON-LD.
What this registry can and cannot do
We can publish a file those systems are allowed to fetch. We can keep the file dated. We cannot place you in an Overview. Anyone who sells placement in that box is guessing with your card.
If the Overview names a rival, look at agreement first. Then look at whether your own site is even readable. Then look at the file. In that order.
Read why this exists. Check a name in the registry. Or start with a free check. Gold is $297 a year for a fuller identity. Paying does not itself verify the website.
